This is the left hand side of the week.....
Until next time....
Week 49 was a fun week with the beginning of December signalling the beginning of a big month for us as a family as it is not only Christmas time with all its festivities, but it is also the end of the school year and Lilly's birthday!! Of course with it being the first week of December, it is time for the Christmas tree to go up.... This year I bought some new beautifully coloured decorations and it was this colour palette that lead me to create my page with a number of collections by Miss Mint!! Yes I am a huge fan of all the minty goodness available from Peppermint Creative, and the colour palette that runs through all of the 'Hello' collections were a perfect match for this week. In putting the week together, I used 'Hello Giggles' and 'Jolly Holiday' kits and LIP editions, pulling addition elements from 'Hello Growth' and 'Hello Change'. All these kits work so well together - with only a small amount of recolouring in Photoshop needed - but this is the beauty and versatility of working digitally. This is the left hand side of the week..... So here is the gorgeous christmas decorations for this year.... and as you can see from the photos, the cards, papers, and elements from the Peppermint Creative collections were simply perfect. The triangle geometric paper that I used on my title card was then used to set the colour palette for the layout as a whole. I have traditionally been a complete control freak when it comes to the decoration of our Christmas tree!! But following a wake up call last year, this is the second year I have let go of all creative control, allowing Lilly to decorate it as she desires. I will be completely honest that it was hard at first as I am a bit of a perfectionist but now there is a new sense of pride that comes in looking at the tree. Lilly does an amazing job and obviously paid attention to me doing it in past years as she often stands back to take in the big picture and makes adjustments as she goes. This year I was able to simply sit back, watch and listen to Lilly as she decorated - oh and take photos of course!! So many gorgeous photos that it was super hard to choose what to include.... To assist with this dilemma, I have included extra images using a 3x4 CTMH Flip Flap - allowing me to include three images where there would usually be only one. I love these extra adhesive pockets for when there is not enough images for a full insert. And I simply love the images of Lilly with the completed tree and the one of her where she decorated herself as a tree. But my most favourite image from this side of the layout is this one of Lilly and I!! It was taken using the timer function on my DSLR while the camera was propped up on a dining chair. Having this special person in my life has certainly encouraged me to get out from behind the camera and into the frame more and more. I want to look back and have her look back at images of us together!! And this is definitely a keeper..... Now for the right hand side.... Saturday was the day that I decided to attempt the 'C25K' challenge - something that if you knew me is completely out of character and left of field. But I figure that the time has come to do something with regards to my fitness levels and with a friend attempting the same challenge, I was surprisingly keen and buzzed about starting it myself. I used another CTMH Flip Flap but this time a 4x6 size one to include some detailed journalling and before and after selfies in terms of my first outing. I love how the aqua alpha from the Hello Giggles collection pops against the orange pavers. I snapped this photo from across the room when discovering Kendall and Oscar sharing a moment. I have been inspired by Ali Edwards' 'Lens of Joy' class I have been undertaking lately to try and capture such moments by being a 'quiet observer' rather than an in your face photographer. Such a cute moment.... and how can you go past a family selfie in Hyde Park while enjoying a family day out in Sydney. This was taken using my new little 'gorilla pod' tripod for my iPhone - saving my arm from over extension in getting us all in the photo. The lighting was not great so some editing was required but I love that the photo captures the fun we were having.... There will be a few inserts for this week capturing all the fun moments we had in the city - checking out the giant Lego Christmas tree and other christmas displays and the Sydney Museum. And as always, here is the layout as a whole. I love the colours in this layout along with the memories that have been captured and recorded... Thanks again for coming by and checking out my pages. I hope I have inspired you in some small way with your own memory keeping and would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below... I will be back with a catch-up post for Week 37 later in the week - depending on how organised I am as it is Lilly's birthday party this weekend... oh the photos I will have to include in Week 50 especially since we are having a photo booth at the party!?!?!?
Until next time....
