After spending time trying to tidy up and consolidate my crafting supplies and in particular my PL goodies, I have been slapped in the face with how much product I have and do not use!!! I started traditional scrapbooking some 7 years ago and over time, I have amassed a rather evil amount of pretty things. The collecting slowed down for a while but enter Project Life and I have gone a little nuts!! Over the past 18 months, I have purchased a massive amount of goodies - both physical and digital. But at least the digital goodies are hidden on my computer and several external hard drives.....
So for Week 21, I decided to challenge myself to break out the physical goodies and limit the amount of digital elements I could incorporate. I decided to limit myself to Studio Calico goodies as I had 6 months of their rather lovely kits sitting on the shelf doing nothing. I have to say that it was indeed a challenge and required a change in my creative process in putting the pages together. I obsessed over these pages for hours and hours - subbing cards in and out, and forgetting what ones I had tried etc... I also missed being able to edit, transform and recolour cards to my liking. But it was a good challenge though and in the end I am happy with the finished pages.
I did cheat a little by using some digital brushes and printables by Studio Calico and did still print my journaling as using my handwriting is simply not an option!!! It is something I have tried in the past but just could not get it to look how I wanted nor could I fit in the amount of journaling in as I can when I type/print it. And the amount of cards that were trashed due to it not being perfect was such a waste... I really do admire people who do use their own writing and imagine it must be so much quicker to do so but I simply cannot do it and still be happy with my pages. I simply would not look at them if I did not find them aesthetically pleasing to my eye..... so have let go of this and moved on....
Until next time....
