Well here is the left hand side....
I love this photo taken on playground duty - for no other reason but the colours and lines of the painted snake on the asphalt. It simply took my fancy and so I took a photo....
Until next time...
Week 36 was created using one of my favourite monthly collections from one of my favourite designers - August Storyteller collection by Just Jaimee. These monthly collections are HUGE and full loads of different goodies - papers, embellishments, word art, templates, PS styles, brushes, cut files, tags and the list goes on... and all at a bargain price if you subscribe to Jaimee's newsletters. They are a must buy item for me every month, and if you have not seen them, you should definitely check them out - no matter whether you are doing physical, digital or hybrid PL. You can actually pick up past collections by Just Jaimee this weekend as part of her Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale - so head over to her website and check them out.... Well here is the left hand side.... The week started out like I wish every week could start... with a day off which was spent with my digi-hybrid partner-in-crime, Sam of Commentary Hush Saga doing what we love!! I love doing PL but I love it even more when you get to share it with a friend. We had been trying to coordinate a day off together for ages and finally it happened. This is a photo of our creative mess on her dining room table. As you can see, we both have a sweet tooth and have a tradition of eating 'Maltesers' and 'Strawberry & Creams' (which I think we had finished by this point in the day) while we work. Well one does need to maintain one's energy while creating!?!?! And that's our story and we are sticking to it... If you have not yet discovered Sam's blog, you should definitely check it out and explore her amazing PL pages..... I just love this photo of Sam's youngest son, who was so excited about educating me in the world of Teenage Mutant Turtles!! I love how I was able to capture him in full explanation mode behind the turtles in this photo. Having only a daughter who is very much a girlie girl, it was a refreshing change to be introduced to the world of boys... I just had to capture a photo of these super delicious chocolate croissants that I had the pleasure of enjoying at school. Gotta love it when you score a day when there is a morning tea... And the week continues with the right hand side.... As I was hoping, I love reading the journaling on the first card above, where I take time out to appreciate the random everyday moments that make up the goodness of my life. It is this kind of thinking that I like to recall and enjoy when having a 'meh' moment. And I do love this particular journal card design which I created with some word art and wood veneer hearts - so simple but perfect for what I was wanting to capture. This is the beauty of working digitally in designing my pages, as if I cannot find the perfect journal card, I am able to put together different elements and simply make my own, knowing that it will work with other supplied cards as have been drawn from the same collection. I love this photo taken on playground duty - for no other reason but the colours and lines of the painted snake on the asphalt. It simply took my fancy and so I took a photo.... The craftiness of the week continued into the weekend with another friend joining me for some scrapbooking fun on Saturday. I love having friends that enjoy my passion for memory keeping!! We too have a tradition of enjoying edible delights while scrapping - chocolate and vanilla coke!! It is usually a block of Kit Kat but today we splashed out on Red Velvet Tim Tams!! I am a big fan of anything red and love how you can see my red album in the background of this photo while highlighting the red velvet stripes within the biscuit. I still pinch myself at times when thinking how I have been embraced by the scrapping world in terms of my PL, and still get excited when my work is acknowledged by designers who I not only work with but more importantly admire!! I never imagined that I would experience such accolades when I started this journey and still find it hard to believe... And for the layout as a whole.... I really love this week's spread - it is definitely one of my favourites!! And sharing it with you has definitely lifted my spirits and made me smile. I hope you have enjoyed it too....
Until next time...

Week 35 was created using a lovely collection called 'A Colourful Life' by Danielle Young Designs. I was drawn to this collection by the gorgeous colour palette, and simple and clean designs. I supplemented this collection with elements from other designers such as Peppermint Creative, Shannon McNab of Scotty Girl Design and Cindy Schneider. While I generally use one collection or work by one designer in creating my pages so as to limit my design choices, I do like to sometimes pull together elements from a number of sources so as to bring my pages to life. Unfortunately, I am not overly good at keeping a detailed record of exactly what kits or collections I have used when I do this, and it is something I need to work at so as to share the details of my pages. The first half of the week was just a normal ol' week of simple pleasures... some casual teaching days at a new school and some more at an 'old' one, fun comments on mine and a friend's pages by our shared favourite designer, and a fresh 'do' after a trip to the hairdressers. Back in my pre-PL days, I would never have thought of capturing such moments, let alone scrapping them!?!? But now I love that I have an album of such moments.... On the subject of simple pleasures, one of my favourite elements from this page is this filler card I created using different elements. I simply feel in love with the spotty paper by Danielle and just had to use it, and together with some simple word art and the stitched heart, I just love how it turned out. Sadly, I cannot tell you what designer or collection I pulled the stitched heart from..... and I so wish I could as would love to use it again some time and it would save me time wading through my digital PL supplies!!??! I took this selfie after a trip to the hairdresser's as it is one of the only times I have enjoyed some curls in my hair. The old saying that you always want what you don't have certainly applies here... I have always had such straight hair and wished I had some form of curls or wave to it at times. My attempts to curl my hair have always failed and so it was such a rare pleasure to enjoy the bounce that is curly hair. If only we could have a live in hairdresser to make us look so lovely each and every morning..... And now for the right hand side.... I love Fridays and the weekend!! You get to relax, chill and enjoy even more enjoyable simple pleasures - such as our monthly PL Crop night on the last Friday of the month and a weekend of chillin' at home with the family and animals and a birthday party thrown in for Lilly.... I don't think there is anything much better than a night of scrapping with fellow PL enthusiasts, enjoying each others' company, eating lollies and chatting up a storm - and even sometimes getting some pages done!! I was chatting with someone this week about scrapbooking and he likened me to a Stars War fan in the sci-fi world and then called me the nerd of the craft world!! I had to laugh.... Perhaps this is what I am but I love it, embrace it and look forward to it every month. I am blessed with a sensational bunch of women, and we are due to get together this coming Friday if you live in Sydney and wish to join us. You can find all the details here or can leave me a comment and I will give you all the details.... Is there anything more relaxing than soaking up some late winter sunshine with a good book and your pet snake??? Well maybe not the snake part for most people.... It was definitely one of those surreal moments where you are looking down at yourself and think is this really happening??? Am I actually sitting here with a snake crawling over me, while I simply keep reading and not bat an eyelid.... I have to admit that our reptilian family members are all lovely and docile, and indeed are the perfect pets - some of you will simply have to beg to differ I am sure :) And now for the other two beloved members of the family who both joined me for some relaxing sunshine as well as destroying my peace at times with their antics. Neither of them were as taken with the idea of burying one's nose in a book for the entire day as I was.... But I do love this photo of them - both with a glint of mischief in their eyes!?!?! And finally the week as a whole..... Thanks for stopping by.... I would love to hear your thoughts and feedback in the comments below and look forward to sharing more weeks with you hopefully a little more regularly than I have of late.
Until next time..... So lets get down to exploring what was life back in Week 34!!! In creating these pages, I turned to the super lovely designs of Sahlin Studios. Krista's designs are just lovely in terms of the colours, clean lines and classic designs especially her 'Documentary' and 'Life as We Know It' collections. The two kits work together beautifully, and were a perfect match for the photos for this week. Any collection with spots, stripes and chevrons has my attention (and money) immediately.... The week was a normal week of family life and working, with Lilly being sick in the middle of the week with me shortly thereafter, Book Week taking place at school and our normal family activities on the weekend. Nothing super huge or exciting but what I called my 'boring but blessed' life - which I will take it any day of the week!! Here is the left hand side of the week..... Perhaps my favourite feature of this side of the page in terms of cards and embellishments is my filler card below, which I created using different elements from Krista's kits. This is something I like to do when I just don't have the perfect predesigned card in a collection. I pull together elements that I like and simply make my own - often using the digital papers, elements and embellishments. This is the beauty of using a digital collection, you are in the driver's seat and can manipulate the different files to your heart's content. I love how the detailed nature of the doily pops against the graphic stripes, and the word art simply sums up the essence of what PL means to me. Just look at these chubby cheeks and the cute little nose... are they not the cutest you have ever seen?? Well perhaps I am a little biased... I wanted to capture my Lil as she was recuperating after a 2am vomiting spree, keeping us both off school for the day. This is our 'Maggie' - our Stimson Python, who had to visit the vet this week due to excessive shedding and complete loss of appetite. She is Lilly's snake and we were so worried that she might die, like the fish and George the Blue Tongue. This would devastate Lilly, and so it was a great relief when she was given a clean bill of health. But the reason I took this photo of me holding Maggs on the journey home was that I had one of those 'I cannot believe this is happening' moments - I definitely did not ever think I would be so casually holding a snake. But they are gorgeous creatures - so graceful and mysterious - well that is when they are as lovely a pet as this one.... Now to the right hand side of the layout... This side is full of the lovely relaxed moments that was a weekend at home with the family playing chess, chilling out on the lounge, enjoying pancakes cooked by hubby on Sunday morning, and enjoying the spoils of our garden as Spring approaches. It was also the moment when I was accepted onto Traci Reed's Creative Team for the remainder of 2014. When I started this journey and started to contemplate - well dream - about the possibility of being on a CT, I had my wish list of designers I would love to work with, and Traci was in the Top 3!! So to be accepted to he team was (and is) a huge honour!! The message from Traci has been captured using the free LIP: Social Media Journal Card template from Miss Mint of Peppermint Creative. Lilly has recently started to learn to play chess at school, and the lessons continued this weekend at home. I have always loved chess and to share it with my Lilly was fun - perhaps a little frustrating - but fun nonetheless. I love this photo of the chess pieces in all their glory, which I took while lying on the floor. It is lovely seeing a loved one come good after a period of sickness - which Lilly did as the week progressed. She was sharing a quiet moment with the cat, which I was trying to sneak a photo of but of course I was busted and Lilly went into photo mode with her gorgeous big smile. I do love that she is not shy in front of the camera - but then again, how could she be with a scrapbooker and Project Lifer for a mother!?!? Lastly, how could I go past a photo of my gorgeous red geraniums?!? They are one of my favourites. I also used a digital brush from Ali Edward's 'No Day Like Today' collection. I love the simplicity of Ali's brushes with her stunning handwriting - if only mine could be half as lovely, I might be able to get over my anal retentive and perfectionist tendencies and use my handwriting for my journaling.... And so here is the layout in all its glory... As always, thanks again for stopping by and checking out my pages - it means a lot to me...
