Anyway, I will be back tomorrow with Week 18 of my Project Life and hope you will come back to check it out... In the meantime, what are you CURRENTLY CREATING????
Until next time......
The ever lovely Kellie Winnell of 'Give a Girl a Blog' fame is having one of her Currently Creative Link ups and I finally decided to join in the fun!! You all know that I am a PL devotee and scrapbooker but I am generally a habitual crafter and am the queen of the UFO - AKA Unfinished Object - with projects too numerous to count!! I knit but never finish, I quilt and only ever finished one project completely and I crochet with many a project on the hop.... But recently I was shown a project which I just had to make and I actually FINISHED it!! And all within a few days... Yes it certainly got the creative juices flowing!! It was this skirt which I discovered on a newly discovered website full of thousands of free knitting and crochet patterns - Garnstudio by DROPS Design. How could I possibly pass up on this one - its a crocheted CHEVRON skirt!!! I promptly headed to my favourite wool shop ever - The Wool Inn - to see the ever lovely Anita and Bess to get their help with yarn substitution and selection. If you are a knitter or crocheter and live in Western Sydney, you should definitely take the time to check out this wonderful wool shop, where the service is awesome and never fails to exceed expectations. You can also shop with them online here... After checking out yarns specs, it was decided that I would use a 5 ply wool yarn instead of the suggested alpaca yarn and soon multiple beautiful coloured balls of wool were spread out on the floor for perusal and selection. After playing with different colour combinations, the following were chosen.... Don't you just love wool!!! Well I do and I spent some time just holding the balls in my hands... Yes I am a little weird!?!?!? But once I got over this little interlude, I promptly got started on the project at hand. It was Thursday night when I started and I crocheted into the wee hours of the morning as I do being the night owl that I am!! Nothing beats sitting up late, with the house to yourself and a new craft project.... Here is where I got to by Friday lunch time - lucky for me it was school holidays: - It is a really easy project once you get started and find your groove!! I love how it is crocheted from the top down so that you can monitor the length. This turned out to be especially important for me with my physical challenges in the height stakes, as I had to cut the length short as it would have turned from a knee length skirt to a maxi skirt... not the look I was going for!?!? By late Saturday night I finished it!! I actually FINISHED something!! Complete with buttons even.... I have since worn it to the Stitches & Craft Show in Sydney - a fitting debut I thought - and well as work. It is so comfortable and looks rather awesome with tights and boots, even if I do say so myself. I do recommend that one wears a slip underneath on coolish days as the wind does tend to blow in through the holes and up one's skirt quite literally.... I think I might make another one but in black and white next time!?!?
Anyway, I will be back tomorrow with Week 18 of my Project Life and hope you will come back to check it out... In the meantime, what are you CURRENTLY CREATING???? Until next time......

Thanks Kellie!!! Its actually more impressive than it is difficult... if you can do a double crochet stitch, you can make this skirt!!
