This was until earlier this week while spending the day with a fellow digital-hybrid PL devotee and good friend, Samantha Myerscough, when we decided to challenge ourselves with creating a 12x12 digital layout using this month 'Pimp My Page' challenge by Miss Mint of Peppermint Creative. Miss Mint is a designer we both love and use in our PL pages but each month, Miss Mint posts a free 12x12 template and encourages all her 'minty chicks' to then create and post a page using the template to her gallery.
I think the process of completing this challenge has opened up a new creative adventure, and I can see myself creating more and more 12x12 digital layouts - just don't know what will become of my massive physical stash of goodies that I have collected over the years. I always thought that creating such pages in digital format somehow drained some of the life and energy out of the creative process by removing the all tactileness of playing with paper and other goodies, but I was wrong!!! I love, among many things, how you can make and remake decisions without trashing products, how you can recolour the perfect embellishment to match any colour palette, and how you can never run out of your chosen alpha despite how many 'e's' you need for your title. And to make it even more desirable, it is completely MESS FREE!! No longer is the dining table or lounge room floor covered in an array of discarded papers and embellishments. I still get to create a beautiful page, full of pretty things, and more importantly record the photos, memories and stories of our lives, be it on the laptop...
I was so enamored with the process that I quickly went looking for my next project!! I chose another free template but this time one created by Mye De Leon, and paired it with goodies from the newly released 'Pocket Life September' collection by Traci Reed. It seemed only fitting that I use images of Sam and myself at a recent Project Life Crop, given that she has become my 'partner in crime' in my digi-hybrid scrapping pursuits....
I am definitely going to continue to explore this new world of digital scrapping and will share such pages as they are created. In the meantime, you should head over to Sam's new blog and check out her awesome Project Life pages, and don't believe a word she says about the pushy friend that dragged her to the dark side of digital-hybrid scrapping......
Until next time....
